Hires Recreation and Parks Director
In 2002 a Warwick Region Comprehensive Recreation, park, and Open Space Plan (WRCRPOS) was completed. From this report a recommendation was the need for a Parks and Recreation Director to support the WRRC. This recommendation, lead to the hiring of Curt Strasheim in August 2005 to serve as its Park and Recreation Director. The position is being funded partially by Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) Circuit Rider Program.
To the position, Curt brings a good mix of educational credentials and professional experience. He is a graduate of both Mankato State University in Mankato, Minnesota and South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota. Curt has previously served as the Parks and Recreation Director at Manor Township, PA, Calumet City, IL, and New London-Spicer, MN. In addition to his experience as a Parks and Recreation Director, Curt also brings 15 years of collegiate athletic coaching experience.
Some potential goals that he sees for the region include the continued development of the regions parks and trail system, the development of a maintenance schedule to ensure facility upkeep, the continued promotion of a variety recreational opportunities for all age groups, and the continued development of relationships between the regions existing recreational organizations.
